How Long Will a 1gb Video Take to Upload Online

Is this kind of thing adamant by my laptop quality, net connection, or just YouTube'south ability to handle the data?

The video is but 5 minutes long. What happens if I upload something that is 15 minutes long? Volition I accept to await 9hrs? Cool.

A 1GB video is a very large video to upload to the internet. What's your upload speed? If it'due south not also fast, expect a long look.

Upload speeds are much slower than dl, 1gb taking an hour sounds correct for upload.

I used to upload fom my laptop via a software plan, now I am uploading directly via the YouTube website, which does seem to be much slower.

I guess I demand to invest in a software editing program once more.

I am travlling Asia next month, and will be uploading multiple videos every mean solar day. Sky preclude if it's this slow...

Typical home user upload speeds are in the region of 100kbps, about ten times less than your download speed so its non surprising.

Encode information technology to an actual video codec and so upload it. 1GB for 5mins is horrendous. There are many many converters online.

Expect into WinFF if you want something uncomplicated, or the command line version of x264 if yous know what the command line is.

Recompress information technology locally before uploading it. Shouldn't be more than a few tens of megabytes.

There are gratis ones and paid ones. You're all-time off googling for a tutorial on uploading to youtube since I'm not sure what formats it will accept.

I don't really practice whatever encoding so dunno which programme/GUI to recommend. Do a scrap of enquiry on the x264 link and pick any converter that would come across your needs

I'd love to know from whatsoever IT specialist how Youtube is able to archive such a huge amount of data on its servers, for what I presume, on a forever basis and keep to accept MORE data. Mind boggling considering 99% of it is garbage and its been accepting data non-stop since 2005
